How to Request a Software Installation

How to Request a Software Installation

Whether you need a brand new application or an existing one reinstalled on your computer, the process starts with a helpdesk request. This ensures the software is vetted for security, properly licensed, and compatible with your system.

How to Submit a Request

Submit a ticket with the following information:

  • The name of the software you need installed
  • Whether it is a new request or a reinstallation of something you previously had
  • The computer or device it should be installed on (if you use more than one)
  • Any urgency or deadline (for example, if you need it for a meeting or project)

What Happens Next

  1. If the software is already approved, a technician will install it remotely, usually within one business day. You may also find it available in your organisation's self-service application catalogue (Company Portal or Software Centre).
  2. If the software is new to your organisation, we will review it for security and licensing requirements before installation. See our article How to Request New Software or a Licence for details on the approval process.
  3. If a licence purchase is required, we will coordinate with your manager or procurement contact before proceeding.

Self-Service Installation

Some pre-approved applications are available for you to install yourself through the Company Portal app or Software Centre on your computer. Open it from the Start menu and browse the available applications. If you do not see these tools, your organisation may not use self-service deployment.

Need software installed? Submit a ticket and a CMO IT Services technician will assist you.
