How to Set Up Voicemail and Calling on Telus Business Connect
Telus Business Connect is a cloud-hosted phone system used by some of our managed clients for business calls, voicemail, and call forwarding. If your organisation uses Telus Business Connect, this article covers the basics of getting started, setting up voicemail, and using the most common calling features. If you are unsure whether this applies to you, check with your manager or submit a ticket.
Accessing Telus Business Connect
Depending on how your organisation has configured the service, you can make and receive calls using:
- Desk phone (if one is assigned to you)
- Desktop app installed on your computer
- Mobile app on your iPhone or Android
If you do not have the desktop or mobile app installed, submit a ticket and we will set it up for you.
Setting Up Your Voicemail
- From your desk phone: Press the voicemail button or dial your extension. You will be prompted to create a PIN and record your name and greeting.
- From the desktop or mobile app: Go to Settings > Voicemail to configure your greeting and PIN.
- Record a professional greeting. A good voicemail greeting includes your name, your organisation's name, and a note that you will return the call. Example: "You have reached [your name] at [organisation]. I am unable to take your call right now. Please leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible."
Common Calling Features
- Transfer a call: Press the Transfer button, dial the extension or number, and confirm the transfer.
- Forward calls to your mobile: In the app or web portal, go to Settings > Call Forwarding and enter your mobile number. You can set this to forward always, when busy, or when unanswered.
- Do Not Disturb: Toggle DND on the phone or app to send all calls directly to voicemail.
- Check voicemail remotely: Open the Telus Business Connect mobile app and tap the voicemail tab, or dial your office number and follow the prompts to access your mailbox.
Troubleshooting
- No dial tone or calls not connecting: Check that the desk phone is plugged into the network. For the app, make sure you are signed in and connected to the internet.
- Voicemail not working: Confirm your voicemail PIN is set up. If you have forgotten your PIN, submit a ticket and we will reset it.
- Callers hear a generic greeting: Your personal greeting may not be saved. Re-record it through the phone or app settings.
