How to Connect to the Office VPN
A VPN (Virtual Private Network) creates a secure, encrypted connection between your computer and your office network. This allows you to access internal resources such as file shares and applications as if you were in the office. CMO IT Services configures VPN access for users who need remote connectivity.
Connecting to VPN
- Open the VPN client on your computer. The specific application depends on your organization's VPN solution. If you are unsure which app to use, check with CMO IT Services.
- Enter your credentials. Use your work email and password when prompted.
- Complete the MFA prompt. Approve the multi-factor authentication request on your phone or enter the code from your authenticator app.
- Wait for the connection. The VPN client will show a "Connected" status when the tunnel is established. You can now access internal resources.
Troubleshooting
- Check your internet connection first. VPN requires a working internet connection to establish the tunnel. If you cannot browse the web, fix that first.
- Restart the VPN client. Close the VPN application completely and reopen it.
- Try a different network. Some public Wi-Fi networks (hotels, airports) block VPN traffic. Try using a mobile hotspot instead.
- Restart your computer. This clears temporary issues with network services.
If You Cannot Connect
Submit a ticket with the error message from the VPN client and what network you are connecting from.
